"RHINO COMES TO SCHOOL" ARRIVES AT SMA N 11 PANDEGLANG More Than 200 Grade 11 Students Encouraged to Become "Rhino Ambassadors"

PANDEGLANG – OFORA Indonesia - *, with support from *SAFEworldwide, an international NGO dedicated to wildlife conservation, successfully held the "Rhino Comes To School" education program at SMA N 11 Pandeglang on Tuesday, July 28, 2026.

The event was attended by more than 200 Grade 11 students representing 11 classes. They participated with great enthusiasm to learn and contribute to the conservation of Indonesia’s most critically endangered species, the Javan Rhino Rhinoceros sondaicus.

The Javan Rhino is one of the rarest animals on earth, with a population of fewer than 80 individuals. It is only found in Ujung Kulon National Park, Banten. The lack of awareness among young people remains a major challenge for long-term conservation efforts.

Through this interactive program, OFORA Indonesia and SAFEworldwide aim to instill the understanding that Generation Z is a valuable asset that can be empowered as "Rhino Ambassadors" – young advocates who speak up for the importance of protecting the Javan Rhino as a treasure of Indonesia.

The "Rhino Comes To School" program included:
1.  Educational Presentation: A session on the Javan Rhino’s historical range, habitat, threats, and the importance of conservation by the OFORA Indonesia team.
2.  Interactive Session & Q&A: Students engaged in active discussions and proposed creative ideas for conservation campaigns.
3.  Prize Distribution: Awards were given to students who actively asked questions and correctly answered questions from the speakers as an appreciation for their concern.

"We believe that big change starts in the classroom. The students of SMA N 11 Pandeglang today have proven that they care and are ready to be at the forefront of voicing the importance of Javan Rhino conservation. Our job now is to give them the space and support to be heard," said Ofat Sofwatuddin, http://S.IP from OFORA Indonesia, who also serves as the Central Coordinator of the Indonesian Conservation Cadre Communication Forum.

With the implementation of this activity, OFORA Indonesia hopes to nurture a young generation that is not only academically excellent, but also has a strong commitment to protecting Indonesia’s nature and wildlife.
